If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, or my blog posts, you know this is unfailingly true: I love Fathom Travel. I love Fathom here; I love Fathom there; I love Fathom everywhere! (Editor’s Note: Fathom only travels to the Dominican Republic and Cuba.)
Unfortunately my love of Fathom didn’t make a good business model, because it is going out of business at the end of May. I am, of course, devastated—I had a minor breakdown when I heard the best travel experience I’d ever had was leaving forever. But then I plucked myself up off the heap of my broken dreams and realized I just needed to find other tour companies that were doing the same “impact travel” as Fathom.
Welp…that was faaaar easier said than done.
This past year I had an upswing in the number of clients I sent to Alaska—mostly via cruise. Now for those of you are highly concerned with your carbon footprint, a cruise exploring the Alaskan coast can feel impossible. Cruise ships can seem like bulbous towns that excrete waste wherever they go. So how can you see Alaska sustainably? This blog post contains some possible unique solutions, so buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Note: Thanks to my clients Amy & Damian for use of their pictures of Alaska for this blog post!
Happy 2017, everyone!
I love the start of a new year, because it seems like the possibilities for renewing and improving ourselves are endless! Yes, I’m one of those people who traditionally make New Year’s Resolutions. But back to travel: you might be one of those many people who resolve to travel more! This week’s blog post is for you, Lady or Sir Travelmore: Four Tips to Help Keep Your Travel Resolutions.
