When people find out I’m a travel agent their reactions are “Wow that’s so cool!” and “Was it because you traveled a lot?” It is pretty cool (but as I mentioned before not only glamorous). Even though I did travel more than the average American, I wasn’t spending all my money jetting off to any old country on school breaks. Why?
Because even though I wanted to I was terrified of flying.
Frankly, I have no idea where that fear came from—except general anxiety was a pretty prominent part of my life—because my first flight at age eight was super smooth, and I’ve never had a truly scary flight experience. But in 2013 I conquered my fear of flying to go visit family (and Disney)!
Flight anxiety isn’t something that truly goes away, but I get a lot less freaked out now, and when an attack of the nerves hits, I can manage it a lot better. So here are some tips to help you manage flight anxiety!
