Welcome to my blog!
I thought a fitting first post would be introducing myself and my travel philosophy, so without further ado:
My name’s Kelsey. I’m married and have two doggies, and if I may say without any bias whatsoever, they are the best doggies in the whole world!
Green is my favorite color and right now sandwiches (really good sandwiches) are my favorite kind of food. Oh, and I love to travel!
That last part’s probably pretty obvious—I’d be pretty bad at my job if I didn’t love travel. “Oh, you’re thinking about going to Ecuador or Peru and you can’t decide? Well, sorry, I don’t really like to travel, so I’m afraid I can’t help you.” But where most people’s love of travel stops at a hobby, my love of travel keeps going.
Because, you see, I think travel can change the world.
Kind of a ridiculous statement, I know. While I don’t actually think all the world’s problems can be solved by travel, I think a large portion of them can certainly be improved by travel. Tourism is the noblest industry a country can invest in. The possibility of overdevelopment (from hotels, resorts, etc.) is undoubtedly a risk, but most people don’t want to travel to overdeveloped places, they travel to get away. People’s desire to see landmarks and natural areas unscathed (and willingness to pay good money to do so) helps conserve a lot of cultural and natural landmarks.
And not only is travel beneficial to economies, it’s beneficial to the travelers. When people travel—no matter where they go—they can’t help but have life-changing experiences. Whether or not you intend it, travel changes you. This is why I see travel as not a luxury, but as a necessity and right. Everyone has the right to educate and improve themselves, and travel is one of the best (if not the best) ways to accomplish this.
So I’ll leave you with two thoughts that are essential to my travel philosophy:
1) Travel is not a luxury, but a necessity and a right.
2) Travel can save the world!
Now get out there and go!
